20 most dangerous routes to drive in South Africa

The 20 most dangerous routes to drive in South Africa have been preliminarily identified by the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC).

The list is made up of priority routes, based on the number of road crashes and fatalities that take place in all nine provinces in the country.

According to the RTMC, the country’s most dangerous provinces for road users are the Eastern Cape (EC), Limpopo (LM) and Mpumalanga (MP).

It says provincial road traffic information has identified particular routes in all provinces that require a “concentration of resources” in preventing road crashes.

The RTMC believes traffic authorities ought to pay priority attention to hazardous locations and routes in the deployment of their resources.

The following roads and routes have been identified as particularly hazardous to road users in South Africa:
